Beauty Products For the Sleep Deprived Momma
Posted on April 24 2019
Basically every mother is sleep deprived, whether it’s because their little one’s are up during the night or they have the infamous “mom insomnia”. Either way, not enough sleep really takes it’s toll. I know this because I, too, am sleep deprived and IT SHOWS. The under eye bags, the dull, dehydrated skin, the *wince* breakouts, I have all of these. And, since my son is showing no signs of magically becoming a good sleeper, I have been on the hunt for products that can help me fake a good night’s sleep. You know how they say, if you look good, you feel good? It’s true! I was tired (pun intended) of feeling like crap and the products I’ve reviewed below seriously helped me get out of that rut I was moping around in. Also, coffee. Lots of coffee. I’m still tired af but, hey, at least I look good.
This facial moisturizer is a literal miracle worker. I have naturally dry skin. Add the lack of sleep and BAM, I look like I’ve been stranded on a desert for the past year. The most important ingredient in this gel is the hyaluronic acid, which absorbs up to 1,000 times its weight in water AND restores the skin’s natural barrier against moisture loss. That’s big. Although this is a gel, it DOES NOT leave the skin feeling sticky. Like, at all. It also smells like heaven in a jar.
No sleep sucking the color right out of your face? No problem. Honest Company has a new beauty line made without parabens, paraffins, talc, petroleum, mineral oil and synthetic fragrances, which is great for dry, sensitive skin. This creme blush comes in four amazing shades and leave the skin looking dewy and fresh. I use Coral Peach and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.
Here’s another Honest Company product I use everyday. I use this on my cheekbones and on the bridge of my nose as a super subtle, dewy highlighter. It’s made with coconut and sunflower seed oils which also add some extra moisture.
I started using this because of Jonathan Van Ness from Queer Eye. He talked about this amazing tool that decreases under-eye puffiness and increases circulation, giving your face an instant pick-me-up. I heard that and my ears literally perked up. Well, he was right. You can also dab a little de-puffing or anti-aging cream under your eyes and use the roller to massage it into the skin. Definitely a must-have.
They say the eyes are the window to your soul, and when your soul is tired af your eyes tell it all. Just like its name suggests, these drops illuminate your eyes. It’s amazing how just a few drops instantly whiten and brighten the eye, making you look fresh and rested. It also reduces that dry, itchy feeling you get when you haven’t gotten enough sleep.
This cleanser is really amazing. First off, it changes from a clay to a mousse as soon as you add water. Second, the charcoal ingredient completely removes dirt, oil and pollution from the skin, which leaves skin looking clear and healthy. Lastly, you can use this cleanser EVERY. DAY. It leaves my dull, tired skin looking more clear and radiant and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it.
They call this “8 hours of sleep in a tube”, which is 100% accurate. Not only does is fully cover dark circles, but the anti-aging peptides, vitamins, antioxidants, hydrolyzed collagen and hyaluronic acid all found in this concealer are clinically shown to add moisture and make skin look younger.
